Important Information Regarding our response to COVID-19

A message to our patients and referring doctors:

Thank you for coming to our page to learn about our practice and how we are coping with the current pandemic.

A significant part of our mission is to keep people safe, healthy and out of pain. This is exceptionally important during this time as we are finding many people have delayed or avoided treatment for serious medical problems with tragic results.

Fortunately dental problems are rarely life threatening but can be extremely painful and potentially dangerous. During this frightening time it is very important to address dental concerns and treat pain and infection in the face and jaws.

As such, our practice is available for consultation and treatment of emergencies and urgent needs such as broken teeth, lacerations, infection, pain and swelling, as well as pathology.

In the absence of widespread testing in Butte and surrounding counties, we are relying on history and examination to rule out active COVID-19 infection. You will be asked about any of the common symptoms of COVID-19 infection, possible contact with an infected person and any travel outside the county in the previous weeks. As it is well established that it is possible to be contagious without symptoms, we will treat everyone as though they may have the virus. This is well established public health policy and, while somewhat onerous, is very effective. This is the hallmark of social distancing that we are all familiar with now.

We use stringent cleaning and sterilization procedures as well as appropriate Personal Protective Equipment. Please don’t be intimidated with all the gowns, hats, masks and gloves! It is what is needed to keep you, me and our staff safe and healthy. So far so good! We are blessed to live and work where we do and that the virus has mostly spared our community.

We do not yet know when the dental community will be back to work, only that a lot of really smart people are working on it.
In the meantime most dentists are available for telephone consultations, urgent and emergent dental problems and will make appropriate referrals as necessary. Please do not ignore pain or swelling in the gums, lips, tongue or cheeks. Painful or broken broken teeth should be examined and treated as determined by your dentist.

COVID-19 is a new fact of life for us. We are all adjusting and all hope to be returning to something like normal life as soon as it is deemed relatively safe to do so. In the meantime, please call for consultation if you have concerns about your oral health.

Best Regards and Stay Safe!

still have Questions Regarding Coronavirus?

In recognition of ongoing news reports and the continued spread of the COVID-19 virus, we realize our patients have questions. As dedicated health care professionals, we want you to know that we remain as diligent as ever in protecting the health and safety of our patients and staff. Our practice strictly adheres to and exceeds the standards for infection control by wearing personal protective gear, using hospital-grade disinfectants, practicing the latest sterilization protocols, utilizing single-use disposable materials, and more. Every effort we have in place is to ensure the safety of our patients and staff. We want you to know that we are monitoring this situation very closely, and we will keep you updated regularly.

Symptoms of coronavirus are reported as flu-like, with varying degrees of severity. While we do not know everything about this virus to date, individuals who are elderly and/or immunocompromised appear to be the most at risk of a severe infection. To ensure your health and safety, and the health and safety of everyone at our practice, please reschedule your appointment if you or a member of your household has a cough, fever, and/or flu-like symptoms. In addition, please reschedule your appointment if you have traveled to any areas within the past 14 days that are at high risk for contracting the coronavirus.

We thank you in advance and extend our gratitude for your understanding and cooperation. Together, we can help keep everyone as safe and healthy as possible. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our office, and one of our staff members will be more than happy to assist you.
